Mr Onsy Morris is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and has been a Gynaecologist for over 40 years. He has spent the last 24 years working as a Consultant at Kingston Hospital. He joined Medical School in 1970 and graduated in 1976.
He trained and worked in several major hospitals in the United Kingdom including Teaching Hospitals in Cardiff, Westminster Hospital and Guys and Lewisham Hospitals in London. He also served Queen and Country as a doctor in the Royal Army Medical Corps for five years before joining Kingston Hospital as a Consultant in 1993.
Because of Dr Morris’ comprehensive training he gained a thorough knowledge of, and vast experience in, all aspects of gynaecology (including menstrual disorders, endometriosis, PCOS, menopause and HRT, miscarriages) and developed special expertise in urogynaecology (prolapse and incontinence), laparoscopic surgery (minimally invasive surgery), diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy and colposcopy (including treatment).
Mr Morris’ extensive work in urogynaecology led him to appreciate that vaginal laxity is one of the most common, yet overlooked, health concerns among women. It is well known that childbirth, hormonal changes due to menopause and aging may affect women’s intimate health.
These physiological changes may alter the laxity of the vaginal canal, damage the pelvic floor and devitalise the mucosal tone of the vaginal wall. This in turn can lead to problems of pelvic floor dysfunction such as genital prolapse, urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction. Mr Morris therefore was keen to take on a new non-surgical treatment to help improve all three aspects of these three problems. ThermiVa, a treatment that uses temperature controlled radiofrequency to stimulate collagen thus improving vaginal laxity, is expected to revolutionise the conservative management of prolapse, incontinence and vaginal laxity.
