Menopause 1.0 – The Essential Knowledge

Three separate sessions with top UK menopause doctors and a dietitian who will give you the information you need to:

  • know if what your experiencing is related to perimenopause or menopause
  • understand the treatment options available
  • understand what lifestyle changes, supplements or alternative medications may help (and which won’t!)
  • have an informed chat with your doctor about the symptoms you are experiencing and your treatment options.

Session 1 – Could it be menopause?

With more than 40 symptoms this can be a confusing time for many women.

Menopause guru, Dr Sarah Ball, will explain all about our hormones – oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone – and how they affect out whole body. And, she’ll run you through many of the common and lesser known menopause symptoms.

She’ll also walk you through;

– the 3 phases of menopause
– when you’re likely to start experiencing symptoms
– what the symptoms are and how they affect almost every part of our body
– HRT and why ‘soldiering on’ without treatment isn’t a good idea for the long term health of your brain, bones and heart
– HRT – is it safe and why we need to start thinking differently about it – not as medication but as replenishing a deficiency.

Session 2 – HRT and other treatments
With more than 30 years in women’s health, Menopause Dr Juliet Balfour will talk us through HRT and other medical options for relieving menopause symptoms.
She’ll run through who can and can’t have HRT and talk about the different ways you can take or use it – such as transdermally with patches, sprays and gels, vaginally with pessaries and creams or IUDs, or orally with tablets.
And she’ll explain how HRT has changed over the years and is now body identical and much safer than the old fashioned versions  synthesised from horse’s pee.
Plus she’ll talk about alternative medications that may be suitable for relieving symptoms for women who can not take HRT or don’t wish to take HRT.

Session 3 –  Can diet, lifestyle and supplements help?
We’re all looking for ways to relieve our symptoms, so, can diet and lifestyle make a difference?
Can we get all we need from our diet or do we need to take supplements?
If so, which supplements should we take and which probably won’t make much difference?
Dietitian Sophie Medlin, founder of City Dietitians, will tackle these topics, and, she’ll take a deep dive into the bowels and talk about ways of relieving irritable and gassy bellies, as well as giving her top tips on managing menopausal weight gain.

There will also be a handy download, including useful tools, resources and links.
