- is paraben and alcohol free. Suitable for vegetarians.
Science of Skin’s Solution for Scars is a clinically proven product from a leading UK plastic surgeon and an internationally renowned expert in scar management. It’s hero ingredient is an extract of Green tea known as EGCG which has been shown to reduce some scars by over 40%, as well as lessening redness and soothing irritation.
It’s expert formulation also contains:
- Magnolia Bark, which fights redness and soothes the skin,
- Micro Algae derived from seawater brown algae which is one of the most intensely moisturising natural ingredients available. It hydrates the skin and improves the skin barrier, which in turn helps keep it protected.
- The powerful and healing antioxidant, Vitamin E which is one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants and a skin protector that can help combat skin damage and boost skin rejuvenation.
Solution for scars can be used to improve a wide variety of scars that are symptomatic (red, sore, irritable). It can be used on surgical scars, chickenpox scars, acne scars, laser surgery scars, burns, cuts and grazes.
It is safe to use post surgery. Once your wound has healed over (ie is no longer bleeding or oozing) and the stitches are out, it’s safe to start application.
It is safe to use in sensitive areas, but avoid getting it in your eyes as it may irritate.
All SOS products are alcohol, fragrance and paraben free and certified by the Vegetarian Society.

SOS Solution for Scars should be gently massaged into the affected area 2-3 times a day. A little goes a long way as the levels of the active ingredients in the product are very high. It works best on scars that are still symptomatic – that is, are red, itchy and irritated but you may also see results on older scars. In both cases it will take time.

About Mr McGeorge:
An award-winning plastic surgeon and one of the leading surgeons in the UK, Mr Douglas McGeorge has a wealth of surgical experience both within the NHS and in the private sector. Moving from London, he started the new cosmetic surgery unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital in 1993, running the unit for ten years before leaving to continue his practice in the private sector.
In Chester, he developed the breast reconstruction service, introducing immediate breast reconstruction to the region. He now continues as an Honorary Consultant at the Countess of Chester Hospital. Douglas continues to teach aesthetic surgery. Senior trainees in the Manchester and Mersey regions spend time in his practice as a mandatory part of their training before taking up consultant appointments.
He has been a contributor to the medical literature, an invited speaker at national and international meetings and is closely involved in the training standards of cosmetic and plastic surgery as a Council Member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He was President of the Association between 2006 and 2008. He is privileged to be a trustee of the Healing Foundation, a major charity that finances research projects in tissue regeneration, cleft palate and burn injuries. They are now directing research towards achieving scarless healing.
Always looking to learn more and discover new ways to work with cutting-edge science and to improve the life of his patients, Douglas founded Science of Skin to focus on scientific research: specifically, research looking at skin health and scarring, taking natural active ingredients and combining them with cutting-edge skin health science to create a range of products that are scientifically proven to work and improve skin health.
